EIT-KICs
Die Wissens- und Innovationsgemeinschaften – Knowledge and Innovation Communities – KICs
Ihre Aufgabe ist die innovationsorientierte Spitzenforschung in Bereichen von zentralem wirtschaftlichem und gesellschaftlichem Interesse und die Verbreitung vorbildlicher Verfahren im Innovationssektor, die das Potenzial besitzen, die internationale Wettbewerbsfähigkeit Europas zu verbessern. Interne Organisation und Zusammensetzung sowie Zeitplan und Arbeitsmethoden werden durch die KICs selbst bestimmt. Teilnehmer eines KICs können Organisationen sein, die im Wissensdreieck von Hochschulbildung, Forschung und Innovation tätig sind, mindestens jedoch drei Partnerorganisationen, die in mindestens zwei verschiedenen EU-Mitgliedsstaaten ansässig sind.
KIC-Projekten liegen in der Regel stark anwendungsorientierte Vorhaben zugrunde, die sich bereits auf einem hohen Technology Readiness Level, kurz TRL, bewegen. Es gibt allerdings auch die Möglichkeit, Projekte im Bereich Lehre (zum Beispiel Massive Open Online Courses MOOCs) oder im Bereich Entrepreneurship (beispielsweise Gründung von Start-Up-Unternehmen) fördern zu lassen. Die Förderformen und -bedingungen sind für jedes KIC unterschiedlich.

- Mehrwert in der Fertigung, EIT Manufacturing
- Urbane Mobilität, EIT Urban Mobility
